Goalball

Description

Specifically designed for athletes with a visual impairment, Goalball is a fast-paced and powerful sport.  Teams of three, wearing complete blackout goggles, compete against one another trying to score a goal by throwing a ball past the opponents’ goal line.  The ball is embedded with bells so athletes listen and sense where it is coming from and try to block it with their body.  The Bridge II Sports Goalball team practices at the Levin Jewish Community Center in Durham.  This program is open to any athletes with visual impairments.
